View from transsexual: What
would amendment mean to me?
Religious leaders recently gathered in Raleigh to advocate amending the state constitution to define marriage as only between a man and a woman. As a transsexual, what would such an amendment mean for me?
When I lived as a man, I had the right to marry any woman I wanted. But now that I live my life as a woman and am still attracted to women, does this mean I’ve lost this right?
And what if I one day fall in love with a man, will I be barred from marrying him because my S.C. birth certificate still indicates I am male and because my sex chromosomes will always be XY?
Would that then mean that I have the right to marry no one?
